Edinburgh doubling parking pay zone

It seems as though life for residents in 350 streets are going to get more expensive with this stealth tax:

Plans to charge thousands more Edinburgh residents £80 a year to park outside their homes go to a public hearing next week. The city council wants to double the size of the charging zone, adding 350 more streets, to deter commuter parking.

I may have missed something here, but it seems to be very little information on this in the press. Looking at the areas it covers this must be a nice litter earner for the Council if it goes through.

Here is the council’s “Supplementary Statement of Case” which includes lists of the streets in The Grange, Morningside, Schiennes, Marchmont, Gorgie, Harrison Place, Dundee Street, Wester Coates, Ravelston, Comely Bank, Hillside, Fettes, Broughton, Beaverbank, Inverleith and Craigleith areas. It also includes the council’s reply to the objections, lists of amendments, technical justification etc. Click here for a map of the affected areas.

Not much more info, in fact just what is above: New Edinburgh parking pay zone
