The HSE is concerned about the “possibility” of an accident at the chemical reprocessing plant and the “serious consequences” for residents living in the new houses. They have called for plans to transform the 43-acre site in Granton to be thrown out over concerns about the potential for a major accident.
In a report to city officials, the HSE said: “The possibility remains that a major accident could occur at an installation and that this could have serious consequences for people in the vicinity. Although the likelihood of a major accident occurring is small, it is felt prudent for planning purposes to consider the risks to people in the vicinity.”
So in the interests of making money, the city fathers woudn’t mind having some of it’s citizens die in collateral damage.
