A seemingly large section of the Hearts support jeered and shouted obscene comments before the kick-off of yesterday’s cup semi-final against Celtic during what was supposed to be a one minute’s silence for the Pope. Hearts had issued an instruction on Friday to fans, asking them to observe and respect the one-minute silence.
The booing and jeering was so bad that referee Stuart Dougal cut short the ‘minute’s silence’ after just over 20 seconds. Then a minority of Celtic fans retaliated by shouting sectarian abuse.
