Confusion reigns over parking

Bumbling AndyAs I mentioned in a previous article here, the council are on a big earner whilst screwing it’s residents. Bumbling Andrew Burns screwed it up again by saying: “This scheme is certainly not designed to make a profit. The £3 million is for running costs - the scheme must be self-financing.” However….

the city centre scheme, which is roughly the same size but is visited by a lot more people, makes £15.8m a year from parking charges, including fines, and £8.3m from permits and tickets.

The bumbling transport ’supremo’ has put forward a plan and they openly admit that they are unable to say how much money would be made from the scheme, or what the eventual running costs would be. No wonder these idiots are working for a council. If they were in private enterprise they would be financially bankrupt. They are already morally bankrupt.

All this goes to prove that this is another money making scheme by the council. This are not only my words, those also come from Neil Greg of the AA Motoring Trust:

“We are becoming more and more concerned about the millions of pounds being raised through parking charges.

“Originally the decriminalisation of parking - which saw responsibility switch from police to local authorities - was supposed to be about traffic management.

“It was never stated by the council that it would be used to raise millions. It now seems to be a money-making exercise.”
