North-south divide in manifesto

Liars in actionLabour were thrown into damage-limitation mode yesterday when their manifesto for Scotland was derailed by strange goings on in the figures department for NHS waiting lists. Our dodgy first minister, showed that all the money that has been put into the NHS in Scotland is not even getting close to helping the most vulnerable getting access to consultants and treatment.

In the Scottish manifesto, published yesterday, Labour promised to reduce the maximum waiting time from seeing a GP to seeing a consultant for a first appointment to 18 weeks and from then, to treatment, to 18 weeks - a combined total of 36 weeks, double the English figure, by the end of 2007.

McConnell, together with the part-time Secretarty of State for Scotland and Edinburgh Central MP, Alister Daring had the meeting to lie about how good the manifesto was but they ended up trying to explain why Scots would have twice the waiting time of our English cousins.

It is interesting to note that a future voter saw through the first minister’s lies.
