A study by the Scottish Low Pay Unit (SLPU) showed that 22.1 per cent of employees in the Capital earn less than its national low-pay threshold. That is about one fifth of the city’s workforce.
SLPU director John Wilson said: “This report clearly shows a large number of workers in Edinburgh are still receiving low rates of pay. The SLPU continues to campaign for a higher rate of national minimum wage that more accurately reflects the cost of living in Scotland.”
