City finance chief fears local income tax

Maureen ‘Three Houses’ Child the city’s finance chief who used council resources to push her political ambitions during the recent congestion charging referendum and who voted unsuccessfully to close down a school against the wishes of her constituents has today come out against a proposed local income tax.

Councillor Maureen Child, the city’s finance leader, said today : “It is simply not viable to consider replacing council tax with a local income tax”

Disagreeing with ‘Three Houses” was a Royal Commission back in the 70’s which approved a local income tax as workable.

Is it possible that our elected representatives fear that a local income tax would interfere with the current bung system?
