Our dumb First Minister was once again bitch-slapped by Westminster bigwig in this election campaign. After Tory Bliar a few weeks ago gave him a good thumping over the NHS waitling lists, now the Home Secretary, Charles Clarke gives him another good one over immigration.
Charles Clarke, the Home Secretary, made it clear yesterday that immigrants would be able to work anywhere they wanted in the UK and he would not introduce any sanctions designed to keep them in Scotland.
Hapless McConnell has been spouting his immigration policy to anything with a microphone for months and months but it seems that the Labour party not only has NuLabour and Old Labour but also NuLabour has factions, the pro-scots and the anti-scots. It was especially nice to see former Edinburgh left wing councillor, Alister Darling sitting right next to Clark at the press conference in Scotland. So even the part-time Secretary of State for Scotland is actually playing on the English team.
