The new catchphrase is out - (wonder if they stole our idea). With £800,000 already spent on it and millions more to come we find it extremely interesting that while this is being distributed around the world, one of the first jobs is to make sure that the local Edinbuggers know it as well.
A string of taxis will be used to spread the message, while dozens of giant “Inspiring Capital” banners will be put up on Princes Street, the Royal Mile and at Edinburgh Airport. Tourism campaigns will have the new image at their heart, and a bid by the city’s galleries and museums to encourage more locals to take advantage of the major attractions on their doorstep will be among the first of these to use the branding.
That’s right - All this money being spent to brainwash locals that they live an “Inspiring Capital”.
The new Edinburgh brand is said to stem from the simple idea of “inspiration and influence, how Edinburgh over the years has inspired many people from all walks of life to do great things”.
So let’s look over the past couple of months:
God help us! I suppose when the community charge bills drop through the doors, emblazoned along the top will be that bloody phrase “Inspiring Capital”
