Ken Macintosh, the deputy convener of Holyrood’s Standards committee has resigned over not registering the £330 cost of hospitality he received at a charity football match and overnight accommodation courtesy of McDonald’s.
MacIntosh is one of many Labour MSPs who on one hand complain about the growing obeseity of our nation’s children but then on the other hand takes hospitality from the world’s biggest pusher of junk food, Donald McDonald. This is happening while the number of children eating school meals has dropped despite Scottish Executive efforts to improve quality.
The Labour MSP for Eastwood breached rules stating MSPs must declare gifts worth more than £250 within 30 days.
He said it was “a late declaration, a simple mistake, no more, no less”.
So if this scrappy behaviour is OK with his own reputation, what other mistakes has he made with our future? On the bright side, at least he had the balls to resign.
