COSLA Awards announced - How did we do?

The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) actually have awards. It is nice to know that the tax-payers fund Scottish local authorities for slapping each other’s back by handing out the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities’ excellence awards - the local government “Oscars”.

Well, we have an ‘inspiring’ team in Edinburgh - we know, because they keep telling us. They are so sure they are ‘inspring’ that they spend £880,000 with Interbrand on a launch of a brand to tell the world just how ‘inspring’ they actually are. So, just how many of these excellence awards did Edinburgh’s ‘inspiring’ administration get?

For service improvement and customer needs - Did we win that one? No - that went to North Lanarkshire

For advancing community well-being, must have a chance there, eh? No - that went to Dumfries and Galloway

For securing a workforce for the future. That’s the one for us. No - Highland Council scooped that gong.

For innovative use of technology - we know we never got that one. We spent £880,000 on a brand launch and never got the domain. We know we didn’t get that one. Who got it? The weegies over at Glasgow took that one, probably having a laugh behind the backs of the Edinburgh councillors.

How about the Scottish Executive award for delivering excellence? Nope again we are afraid. Highland Council picked up another gong.

So what exactly did we win? Ahem, unfortunately the Edinburgh councillors had the long ride home from Bishopbriggs Leisuredome, East Dunbartonshire with their hands empty.

The City of Edinburgh’s ‘inspiring’ Council won exactly nuffin. It is nice to see that COSLA agrees with EdinburghSucks!com

As it is not all bad news for the councillors, we give them an Oscar to help them with their transport problem - it is interesting that the catchphrase painted on the white bit also seems to match our leaders - just missing the word “of”:
