Still catching up - The beautiful city of Edinburgh is fast becoming a huge rubbish dump as council’s environmental and consumer services department cut some of the trucks used in the refuse collection a few weeks ago which we covered here.
Whilst the binmen say they are doing everything possible and the council saying they are carrying out a go slow, the council have still refused to tell the the citizens not to put out their rubbish on time leaving the city one huge rubbish dumping ground
“This is just a recipe for chaos.
“No-one has told us what is going on and rubbish is out on the street because no-one knows when it is going to be collected and we can’t be on 24-hour look out for the next refuse lorry coming around the corner.
“Residents have been out with brushes, bags and spades collecting this midden and with the warm weather the smell is not very pleasant.”
It is interesting that once again, when bad news is in the papers the councillors sneak into the background and one of their press officers, also known as spokesman/spokeswoman has to come to the fore and answer the queries. What happened to elected representatives?

Update:
