City Council

Council forced into U-Turn

The OpposisssionThe council were today reported to have been forced into a u-turn after they turned the city into a huge rubbish dump as opposition councillors slammed the administration of lying to them earlier in the day.

Tory leader Iain Whyte today described the U-turn as “astonishing” and accused refuse staff of holding the council to ransom.

He said: “The latest statement issued by the council is astonishing. It completely contradicts the statement they gave to councillors earlier in the day.

And we thought that the administration only lied to citizens.

We call on Councillor Whyte (correct spelling this time) to let us know what the statement councillors received earlier in the day. It would also be nice if Iain Whyte also inform us of the answers he will get to the questions he obviously has to ask the administration.

But binmen say they are being asked to do an impossible task and have not been involved in any dispute. They say they are only doing what is required of them in their contracts.

One bin man said: “The whole department is way over budget. They are taking vehicles off the road.

“They are giving us more work which is impossible to do. That’s the reason there are delays. We are not on a go-slow, we are working to contract, which means we are doing everything we are paid to do.”

So either Councillor Whyte is correct or the binmen are right - perhaps the administration could tell us which - maybe their lies and their obvious failure of anyone in the administration to speak in the article answers our question. Where is the ‘inspiring’ Teflon Don when you need answers>
