The people who have given most to the city over the years look like they are going to be screwed over by the ‘illiterate‘ led Education Department.
The Rev. Councillor Ewan Aitken has kept quiet as the Children and Families Department have issued a whopping 37% increase on the amount that over-60s and retired people will pay for night classes.
The voluntary group was established in 1998 as a Scottish Charity to provide help to adult learners.
And chairwoman Kim Muir said: “We are very concerned that this will mean a number of people will find it very difficult to pay for classes, especially those over 60, who are facing quite a big increase in the cost. There are a huge number of people who use adult learning classes, and many who would find them invaluable.
“It is very upsetting that the biggest increases are being put on students and the elderly, groups which possibly have the least ability to pay for classes anyway.
“It will almost certainly mean that some people will no longer be able to take an adult learning class.”
Remember this is the council who wasted £9 million pounds of your money getting hammered on a congestion charging referendum and £880,000 on a new city logo and forgot to register the domain names. Now it is trying to garner back a tiny percentage of that cash by hammering the elderly.
