In today’s Evening News, the finance committee convenor has announced that he is asking for evidence on the most effective way to allocate cash to deprived areas.
The Scottish Parliament’s finance committee is asking for evidence on the most effective ways of allocating cash, the financial barriers to tackling deprivation and how funding can be targeted to make a difference.
Today we gave the convenor, Labour MSP Des McNulty a call and have asked to present evidence to the committee on how we see money being spent and wasted in a specific deprived area in Edinburgh, namely Craigmillar.
McNulty said:
“Deprivation impacts on people’s lives in so many ways, starting with education right through to life expectancy. We want to look at how funding from national and local government aimed at tackling area-based inequalities is allocated, how current formulas work and how consistently they are applied.”
So now it is time for EdinburghSucks!com to present the evidence supplied to us by members of that very community (seemingly the fourth poorest in Scotland) on how the money is being allocated and spent at will with very little accountability by a small cabal of people who seem to be related by blood/marriage to each other. We are talking many millions of pounds here.
Would all the people who have contact us in the past, please contact us again so that we can present this information correctly, informatively and concisely.
Update: And would you believe it, within minutes of the phone call ending Des McNulty’s constituency office in Glasgow went on to Google and found our site using the following search term “basa craigmillar evening news scotsman”. Maybe they are taking this seriously!
