One again some time has passed since we published some of our readers letters.

I don’t know if anyone can help, but Edinburgh has gone downhill I am also an exile and it is sad to see the decline. My Mum tripped over a paving slab at the top of Easter Road in December 2001 and has been battling through a solicitor ever since to try to get compensation from the council. She has had 2 major operations on her arm/shoulder and has another major one to go, because the bone graft and very large pin didn’t work. The council blame the hospital etc etc. The fact is that she would not be in the position she’s in if she hadn’t tripped over an uneven pavement. Apparently the council have so many claims against them that they don’t want to pay out any more. My Mum is stuck in the middle. She’s a pensioner and in a lot of pain and they don’t care. Any suggestions?
This council is well know for abusing the elderly. I suggested the lady contact the local press to tell her story.

I heard that there was a party for the campers in the JKC and a local guy got up to “sing a song”. Yup, I can hear you groan … BUT … he then went on to parody a song (dunno wot it was) in which he proceeded to blast Paul Nolan. I’m told he had EVERYONE, even the happy campers, singing his superbly irreligious chorus. I’m sure St Paul of Niddrie must be very upset about this.
Yep, there are lots of stories about former councillor Nolan in the works.

So the council have done it again, not only spending a fortune on a useless piece of busway (when a regular, non-guided bus lane would have done just as well), but it’s buggered in it’s first year and being fixed by Balfour Beatty, no doubt at great expense to the taxpayer.
Again, our leader and transport supremo, Teflon Don and Bumbling Andy are left with egg on their face.

I have been reading your site for the last couple of months, and on the whole I am liking what I see.
However, there has been a glaring omission in what I have witnessed on your pages. And that is the distinct lack of any coverage of the new anti-smoking bill passed by the parliament. Over 70% of respondents to the executives survey was against the proposed changes, and the law passed is probably illegall as it does impact employment law which the executive have no powers to change (only Westminster can change these laws).
I think there can be many recources to the law up to and including the European Courts. Parliament will spent many millions of our pounds defending this law in the future.

And here we would normally put a message that was not in our favour. Unfortunately in the last 3 weeks since we posted the previous readers letters, we have not received one message that is against us out of 714 emails. So here is a message which is not too flattering about our pinstripe kilted First Minister which arrived our way:
during all the recent press coverage regarding mortgage interest payments being gorged by the snout troughing numpties I never seen any relating to the chief numpty who was first into this scam whilst still a bottom feeder, did I miss this, has Jack still got this chory’d hoose or has it been disposed of.?
and that ends our readers input to the site until next time. Good evening, thank you and bye.
