Keith Raffan the former Lib-Dem MSP and TV presenter who resigned after claiming more than £40,000 in mileage expenses has come back to the trough for some more. Raffan had earlier been the conservative MP for Delyn between 1983 and 1992.
Although he is still under investigation by Deloitte Touche over the expenses he is now claiming that he is suffering from ill-health and is unable to get another job giving him the right to ask for his pension payment to be brought forward.
The Scottish Parliament’s Corporate Body (SPCB), the administrative group made up of senior MSPs, will have to seek medical advice in order to judge whether Mr Raffan is entitled to take what for him would be a pension of around £15,000 a year now, rather than when he reaches the age of 65.
Did we really expect any better?
