Retirement from working with Scottish Parliament does not mean the same as it does for us mere mortals. What makes it even worse is that when mere mortals are put out to grass high profile workers on the drastic parliament building get re-employed at £48,000 for two-day week.
A key player in the £431m Holyrood project who retired earlier this year is back working at the parliament as a consultant and earning £48,000 a year.
Former Scottish Executive chief architect Dr John Gibbons, who played a central role in the controversial building from the start, has been hired to help win design awards, advise on adaptations and assist in settling the accounts. He is working about two days a week for the parliament.
Thank goodness independent MSP and Holyrood critic Margo McDonald immediately tabled some questions on how Dr Gibbons had been appointed and wrote to the Auditor General asking him to investigate the situation.
This guy takes retirement in April and the very next month jumps back on the gravy train at our expense. We can’t wait for the answers to the parliamentary questions.
