Why are the Council Worried?

It’s not that we are suspicious of the Council but a very strange story appears in today’s Evening News. The council are worried about getting paid from the Scottish Executive for their outlays during the G8 Meeting.

What makes this item so strange is that:

City finance leader Maureen Child said: “We’ve had a clear commitment from a very senior level that all reasonable costs will be reimbursed and I’m fairly hopeful that will happen.

.. and then…..

A spokesman for the Scottish Executive said: “We’ve yet to receive a formal application from the city council but it has been made clear that it will receive a sympathetic hearing.”

So our question is, what is the real story behind this story. The council says they have had ‘a clear commitment from a very senior level’ and then the SE says they haven’t even receivced a formal application but they will give a sympathetic hearing. There is something fishy happening here and I am sure in due course we will all find out……
