“Teeth” flys the flag - criminals fly in

I get taxi's with blue lights on topA bit of a shock comes in today from SNP MSP Alex Neil who I had previously held in quite high regard.

The Capital’s longest-serving First Citizen is the kind of “character” needed to raise Scotland’s profile and win back visitors, said the SNP’s Alex Neil, convener of the Scottish Parliament’s enterprise and culture committee.

Recently the only time our former Lord Provost has made the news is when he used police cars as convenor of the Lothian Police Board to go to a football match in Glasgow, then chauffeur him and his councillor friends around the bars of Edinburgh and dismissing the driver probably without even a tip.

The other news highlight that came from Eric “Teeth” Milligan recently was that he gave a glowing review, against the city’s Chief Constable to allow a criminal, theiving, jailbird named Daniel Wencker keep his license even after both the Lib-Dem and Conservative groups on the licensing board voted against the criminal landlord being given the license. The labour councillors on the board backed him to the hilt which says a lot about them.

As we have already called for an inquiry into Milligan’s abuse of power, we also wonder what type of people he would like to see in the capital. So far, if he brings people like himself it would be people who abuse their power at the taxpayers expense and people who buy stolen goods. Is this really the types we want in our city? What does our Chief Constable think of this idea?

Having just attended a conference in the city where I was the only Edinbugger, I can tell you why overseas visitors are staying away from not only Edinburgh but the UK as a whole, it is because of the price. The US$ has been so high for most of the year that tourists were paying in excess of $2 for a pound at tourist exchange rates.

I don’t really think that Eric Milligan roaming round the world to pull in criminals is going to help us at all.
