Phil Attridge, the council’s licensing leader who is quite happy to give jailbird theives licences to run ‘trendy’ restaurants in Leith seems to choke over the fact that a private developer doesn’t put “heavy prostitute traffic included” in their brochures to sell their houses.
And although most would not realistically expect the developer to make a virtue of the vice, it has been accused by a leading councillor of trying to gloss over the history of the area. Phil Attridge, the council’s licensing leader, branded the firm “unethical” and “sneaky” for not highlighting the fact that prostitutes operate there.
We have done due diligence and looked over the Council’s plans for the waterfront at Leith and have yet to come accross any mention of Edinburgh’s Red Light district on any of the Council’s plans for the area so who else is being “sneaky”.
As for being ‘unethical’ Councillor Attridge what about when you voted for the ‘jailbird resetter’ Daniel Wencker to get a licence to run his dodgy Daniel’s Bistro which has been serving it’s customers stolen wine against the wishes of your own Chief Constable.
Roy Durie, a senior partner at property agents Ryden, said: “I don’t agree with this councillor at all. I don’t see any reason why they should mention any perceived problems in the area. Where do you draw the line with this kind of thing? People may be more upset about a noisy pub at the end of their street, but it doesn’t mean a developer has to flag it up.
“It’s just completely ridiculous to suggest they should be mentioning this to potential housebuyers. People aren’t stupid, they will look around an area before they buy a property.”
And the above quote makes total sense. The question that should be asked of Councillor Attridge is “what is the REAL problem here for such a stupid outburst?’ Word around the bars in your own Lorne ward last night Councillor Attridge is that a bung wasn’t paid. Do you have any comment?
To add insult to injury, did he bill the the taxpayers for his time and mileage to get down to the flats and pose for the Evening News photograph when he should have been stopping jailbirds getting licences.
