Lord Fawkes of Saughton

It seems that M’lud Watson of Invergowrie this last week became the most high profile kitchen worker after Martha Stewart was released from prison in the United States.

Readers will remember that M’Lud was attending the Scottish Politician of the Year awards dinner last year when the demon drink and a box of swan vestas started all the trouble. He was caught on closed circuit television but claimed that he had suffered an alcoholic blackout.

The fire-raiser who was just as successful as Guy Fawkes never managed to fry any politicians and is now keeping a diary of his life behind bars in Saughton Prison, in the hope if emulating Jeffrey Archer, who made millions from his prison memoirs. The information came from a prison officer who grassed from inside.

Always one to get himself a good job, it seems that his political skills have worked because he will carry out his daily duties at the serving counter of the kitchens as opposed to scrubbing floors.

A source inside the jail said: “It’s one of the best jobs in here. It’s caused a bit of resentment among some of the other inmates because he got the job so quickly.

One wonders whether this is just sour grapes from the source, maybe the source is a conservative.

If Lord Fawkes does as well as his predecessor Martha, he will get his own TV show when he hears the cell door bang for the last time.
