Today’s Evening News brings more presure on Scottish Conservative leader David McLetchie to come clean on the taxigate scandal that has been going on for months.
Back on June 26th, we at EdinburghSucks!com questioned whether the real story was about Tods Murray or indeed about another address (Article Here). It seems we were quite close to the mark, if not spot on.
It has emerged that the Scottish Tory leader took several taxis, at taxpayers’ expense, to a street in Edinburgh where it is thought he may have visited the home of a female party worker
Now further information has come to light about his claims this weekend, showing that McLetchie claimed for taxis to an Edinburgh street which is home to Lady Sian Biddulph, who worked as a secretary for the Conservatives.
McLetchie is currently on holiday in New Zealand so confirmation is sketchy at present but it will be a bit of a headache when returns.
A spokesman for the party confirmed that Lady Biddulph had worked both for the party and as an occasional parliamentary assistant to McLetchie. He also suggested that McLetchie’s visits to the street may have been on “constituency business”.
And it is telling that that spokesman, for some reason, didn’t find it necessary to add a name to him/herself.
