Council wins! ICity center is a no-go area.

Edinburgh City Council have finally won, and they have the audacity to complain. They have spent years trying to close down the city center to cars, children, the elderly and disabled and in their leader’s own words “bizarre” traffic management and now we find out they are going to be short of cash.

New figures released today by the city council showed that 45 per cent of bays are available for motorists on central streets most times during the day, including peak hours. In recent months, the number of drivers using pay-and-display meters in the Capital has plummeted by thousands, leaving city development chiefs facing an £800,000 shortfall in parking income. The problem has been blamed on the shake-up of traffic management in the New Town, which has closed junctions to cars and banned through-journeys on roads such as George Street.

What makes this even worse is that the council spent taxpayers money to do a huge survey of city residents, both over the phone and face-to-face with drivers in the city. They just couldn’t work it out from the fact that their income has plummeted they had to get a survey done - a great use of the taxpayers money, eh.

Bumbling Andrew Burns, our councillor traffic ’supremo’ is overjoyed that some of the citizens cannot make it to the city center, he says “so we can all enjoy our unique and lively city centre at Christmas.”

Burns, who should have been fired months ago after wasting £8 million on the congestion charge when is arse was well and truly skelped along with our other city leaders is being kept in his position because Teflon Donald Anderson and his cronies can’t get rid of him because he would make sure they will fall with him. So, until he’s voted out of his lucrative office, we’re stuck with him, unless the hard pressed commuters of Edinburgh decide to bring a civil action against him.
