An ‘absolute nightmare’

The Kwik-Fit founder, Sir Tom Farmer who sold his company to Ford for what is rumoured to be close to £1 billion today accused the council of creating an “absolute nightmare” for drivers in the city centre as pressure grows for a radical rethink of the Capital’s roads shake-up and joined the mass of support to reverse the ‘nightmare’.

Sir Tom said: “I really feel the council should just go back to the drawing board and start from scratch. People look to the council to come up with the proper answers to these sorts of problems and what they’ve come up with so far has been an absolute nightmare.

“There’s not one person I’ve spoken to, either in business circles or on the street, that’s said the new scheme is a good idea. Edinburgh should be an inviting place but the system is keeping people out of the city.

“I think the council will listen to what your readers have to say and I applaud the Evening News for taking this issue on.

“There’s been a number of poor judgements by the council in trying to control the traffic flow in the centre and it’s time they put their hands up to it. The council has said it will be reviewing the plans and over the last few days I think they’ve realised the depth of public feeling over this issue.”

The criticism follows damning verdicts on the changes from, among others, the world-renowned architect Sir Terry Farrell, who is the council’s own design advisor, and Lord Provost Lesley Hinds.

Idiot kleptocrat council leader Teflon Don Anderson said “We’re all working to the same goal - a vibrant city centre that thrives commercially. As a council we want to continue to build on the success we’ve seen in the city centre recently” - The only success that ignorant lying kleptocrat has seen is he hasn’t lost his job yet. If lies and stupidity were contagious, he would have been quarantined years ago.
