How much will the both the implementation and the reversal of our city center nightmare cost. Edinburgh Sucks demands that the citizens of Edinburgh are given a full and comprehensive costing of the plan and also demands that heads roll.
First head that MUST roll is that of our transport supremeo Bumbling Andrew Burns. He has already cost the city £8 million on the failed referendum where the council was well and truly gubbed by the citizens with 75% voting against it.
The Central Edinburgh Traffic Management scheme has already cost £2.5 million to implement, has cost business in the city center more than £1 million, will cost somewhere around £1.3 million in future works over the next couple of weeks and has turned our beautiful city center and world heritage site into the “Street Furniture Capital of the World”.
Council Leader ‘Teflon Don’ Donald Anderson has to step aside from is powerful position in favour of Ian Murray after today blaming the Scottish Executive for the chaos when it was the Council that sent the plans to them.
And council leader Donald Anderson admitted he had been “staggered” that some parts of the scheme had been approved by the Scottish Executive in the first place.
What lying Anderson forgot to mention that he was totally behind this ’staggering’ proposal in the first place. Do the honourable thing Donald, RESIGN!
Councillor Anderson said: “My view is that a lot of the technical advice we were given about the proposed changes and the impact they would have has proved to be simply wrong.
“Things are worse now in the city centre than they were 12 months ago and it has been horrific. We have removed traffic from Princes Street but have had huge difficulties as a result of the other changes we have made.
The question that must be asked about the above quote is, who gave the advice and is their P45 in the mail? How can such a ‘nightmare’ scenario take place and nobody takes the blame?
The quotes given by councillors nowadays are reminiscent of Chemical Ali during the fall of Baghdad.
