One day’s letters to the Evening News.
In the last year the city centre has become an impossible maze and is horribly confusing for anyone trying to come into town. The net effect of the many closures is chaos, confusion and congestion.
Thank goodness someone is taking these council officials to task over the disgraceful mess they have made to our city.
Driving in central Edinburgh has become all but impossible. If the council is trying to drive shoppers out of the city centre they are going the right way about it.
Coming back into the city is a disaster.
The Labour council should be kicked into touch at the earliest opportunity.
To the council I say: You’ve the jewel of all cities in the entire UK and Ireland, why mess it around?
The council has channelled more and more traffic into increasingly fewer and narrower roads, making life more difficult for the motorist and dangerous for pedestrians.
The present alterations have not provided any solution but have introduced problems.
Getting to work and back is a nightmare with the recent changes.
The introduction of the traffic management scheme has caused serious problems to the city.
Wake up councillors! Admit that the scheme has been a total disaster
The council has yet again shown its incompetence with this ill considered traffic restructure.
In line with the sentiments of 99 per cent of the people of Edinburgh I consider the CETM to be an absolute shambles.
I can’t remember a time in the last 50 years either on a weekend or even a weekday when Edinburgh city centre shops were as empty of shoppers as they were last Saturday.
I think we are paying the penalty for saying no to congestion charging.
I support the removal of ugly road furniture, signs and lights.
Traffic changes are endangering people’s life’s. Anyone travelling down The Mound and on to George Street is taking part in an accident waiting to happen.
A Fire Engine could not get out because of the bollards across the road, so it crossed over the parking area and went up George Street on the wrong side of the road.
It’s a death trap!
The council should be ashamed of their actions.
I have absolutely no doubt that if there had been a referendum on this subject the plan would have suffered the same fate as the proposed congestion charge.
The new traffic scheme in Central Edinburgh is an absolute disgrace.
Edinburgh Council has made a mess of the city with its very bizarre traffic management systems which they now have in place.
Now getting around, across or out of town is a continual challenge. Absolute chaos.
The policy at the moment increases pollution and fuel consumption by forcing lots of stopping and starting and making journeys longer.
Why has nobody been fired?
