Currently clutching at straws. Totally disgraced Transport supremo Andrew Burns picked up a gong recently for the ‘innovative’ but constantly breaking down busway which cost the city £10 million (for 1.5 kilometers) and has had to be closed twice for emergency repairs.
But users complained the ride was too rough, and the busway was forced to close for repairs in July so that bumpy tracks could be smoothed out. And it closed for a second time earlier this month, re-opening just a few days ago.
Community leaders said it had been “one disaster after another” and branded it “a liability”.
The award was presented by David Begg who earlier this year failed in his plans to personally make money out of the city’s congestion charges together with former a city Chief Executive after Bumbling Andy Burns failed at the ballot box to push it through.
It is interesting that this ‘innovative’ project was actually David Begg’s idea when he was the former failed city transport supremo – 10 years ago. Some innovation!
