Yesterday, the city’s leaders were again reeling from another bloody nose at the ballot box delivered this time by the city’s Housing department tenants. After spending in excess of £600,000 of taxpayers money in their huge scale propaganda effort, the Council were shown that their tenants have no trust in their promises.
The result of the ballot has left staff at the council’s housing department reeling after they carried out one of the city’s largest ever public information exercises. They spoke to 14,000 tenants either in person or over the phone to ensure they knew what was at stake.
Numerous calls for the resignation of Sheila Gilmore and which included SSP Leader and Lothians MSP Colin Fox were totally ignored.
“This is the second year running the council has spent millions of pounds trying to persuade people to back their plans and have had a resounding rejection at the ballot box. They didn’t learn the lesson of the congestion charge and came back with another pig in a poke.”
The vote had City housing leader Director of Housing’s plans to stuff much more into their bank accounts with wage rises in the Housing Association dashed. Schemes in Glasgow and Sunderland have been phenomenal failures and constantly appear in the national press for the abuse of tenants.
