Will investigation be open and fair?

Rosendale.jpgAccording to an article in tonight’s Evening News the council voted on Wednesday to carry out an investigation into whistleblowing cases going back to the year 2000.  A motion by Lib Dem leader Jenny Dawe was approved at Wednesday’s full council meeting.

The investigation comes on the heal of the Council being fined £5,000 after letting a whistleblower’s life become hell by senior Children & Families employees at the very highest level.  The problem was so bad that when Mr. Travers was called into his boss’ office his first comment was, “I’ll see if my lawyer is free!”

Mike Rosendale who was company secretary of ELLP which completely wasted £400,000 of taxpayers money has since been promoted and he was allowed to investigate himself.  Earlier this week EdinburghSucks had a poll asking whether he should be fired with 97% of the 1,124 votes asking that Rosendale be booted out.

Let’s hope that Jenny Dawe can make sure that the enquiry will be comprehensive, independent, robust, transparent and far-reaching enough to overcome any ‘vested interests’ but that doesn’t look hopeful.  News into EdinburghSucks which was gleaned from this week’s UNISON AGM in Edinburgh was that Rosendale is going round telling people he will be totally exonerated by any enquiry because “do you think we would have any investigation if we didn’t know the outcome before we started?”

A good start would be to place on leave without pay the following members of Children & Families Staff:

Mike Rosendale
David Hillson
Alistar Frater
Pete McDougall

EdinburghSucks will be watching this story with interest and request to take part in the investigation because we believe we have certain pieces of information which one or more of the above persons thought they had deleted from hard drives and are unavailable.  Fortunately, copies of these files were taken, delivered to EdinburghSucks and are being held by our lawyers.
