The East Lothian Question

News coming in is that East Lothian Council are becoming increasingly alarmed at the creeping invasion of Edinburgh City Council into their business.

No sooner had the so-called Drugs Tsar of Edinburgh (the position that wasn’t advertised or interviewed for), former Deputy Chief Constable Tom Wood (affectionately known as ‘Flashheart’ by his ex-colleagues in tribute to the Blackadder character) finished doing radio and news interviews about the tragic death of the toddler in East Lothian from a methadone overdose, then he was followed by the grinning face of Lesley Hinds (Eric “Teeth” Milligan must have showed her how to do it) at East Fortune Museum of Flight promoting Tourism.

Some disquiet around that the issues of crime, health, tourism are East Lothian issues but being muscled in on by The Big City.  Clearly they haven’t enough to do in the City (oh yeah?!?!) or perhaps they are mindful of the increasing jockeying for position in the run up to selection and political posturing.

Mind you, we are informed that Tom Wood was never shy of publicity of promoting causes of a moral and controversial nature in his old job - viz. prostitution (defeated), cannabis cafes (defeated), licensing (defeated) etc. etc. - so his interference outside his own area and his insatiable thirst for self promotion is unsurprising.

Apparently the “Toon Cooncil”, who have been very critical of their rustic neighbours over transport and planning issues, have been asked to keep their elected members and sundry self-appointed experts in check and mind keeping to their side of the fence.
