What a difference 1 year and 1 day makes

DonaldAnderson.jpgInterestingly just one year and one day ago der Führer of the City of Edinburgh Council Donald “Teflon Don” Anderson shouted from the rooftops of Council towers that the sale of Jenners was “a shot in the arm” for Jenners.  He followed that with “this sort of smart deal is the way forward. “  Even further he said “This is good news for Princes Street and good news for the city.”  Oh, what a difference one year and one day makes.

Today’s Scotsman goes to show that when you take the rantings of Teflon Don and his crooked cabal and put it in to historical perspective, they turn out to be worse than spin, they are eventually proven to be downright ill-informed crap, lies and bear no resemblance to reality.

Now the story down at Jenners is:

Jenners has suffered another blow after the manager of its flagship Princes Street store resigned amid concern over low morale following its takeover by House of Fraser a year ago.

and

The high-profile departure comes as staff at Jenners complain of the “miserable” atmosphere at the formerly family-owned store.

and

More than 100 staff have left or have been made redundant since House of Fraser bought Jenners - previously the world’s oldest independent department store - exactly a year ago.

and

“He wasn’t long here, but seems to have become fed up with the place like everyone else.”

and

“Everyone is miserable at the moment because it has all gone corporate under the new ownership.

“At the moment, they are trying to get us to take more holiday in exchange for reduced pay.”

She added: “A lot of the regular customers aren’t coming back to the main shop in Princes Street.

and

“There are fewer people through the door every week. We were hoping House of Fraser would invest in the store, but apparently that’s not going to happen.”

and would you believe, no quote from der Führer, Teflon Don Anderson.  I wonder why?
