It seems that Teflon Don was a bit over the top yesterday in his glee over the defection of John Longstaff from the Lib Dems to the Labour party. News into EdinburghSucks was that even that defection was on a knife edge because Longstaff was also considering the Conservative and SNP parties.
Now today, it emerges that there are THREE labour councillors considering defection:
the Labour group’s head was forced to admit that his party is facing a wave of defections itself, with three councillors believed to be planning to cross over to the Lib Dems.
This shows that the Labour party in Edinburgh seem to be falling apart at the seams and this is confirmed by the total grip they are trying to get on community councils across the city, especially in Social Inclusion Partnership areas, where there is no opposition but a lot of power and keeping the opportunity to be quoted. If the party cannot keep their councillors, what chance do they have in keeping the electorate on their side.
The big question is who are the three? Answers on a contact form please, and there is one right here.Â
EdinburghSucks guesses that Jack O’Donnell may be one because of the pressure he is under from his because of the multiple investigations by multiple agencies Europe-wide going on into the workings of the “Cabal” in the Craigmillar area of Edinburgh. If true, we believe historically it will be the first time that the Craigmillar ward has not been in Labour hands. Let’s see.
Cardownie, now from the SNP thinks he will get them and Jenny Dawe from the Lib Dems just doesn’t know – or so she says.
