City Council

Council head to court again

It appears that the Labour party doesn’t really stand for equal pay for equal work anymore.  The council are now ready to head to court to fight against hundreds of female workers because the ladies have rejected a £4000 offer for years of being underpaid by the same council.

They are supported by Unison, the public sector union, which has claimed they are entitled to up to £12,500 each. Unison claimed a part-time cleaner, for example, would typically be earning £5000 a year, but should be receiving half as much again, and was entitled to claim £12,500 in back pay.

Today, lawyers acting for the women revealed that 50 new claims a week were being brought against the council.

The Council’s human and corporate resources leader Councillor Frank Wilson says their aim has been to address their equal pay obligations but, obviously the Council’s obligation stops at £4000 and screw the women.  We wonder how much of taxpayers money they will use to try and hammer the women.
