It appears that it is not only EdinburghSucks.com that Napier University lies to. Imagine the gasps and sharp intakes of breath around EdSucks towers when we read that the University also lied to an Industrial Tribunal after they fired a lecturer claiming he did not have permission to operate the business on university premises.
However, when the evidence was presented to the tribunal it turns out that:
A business plan, heard the tribunal, was agreed with Professor Rebecca Wallace on the understanding the venture would generate revenue for the university.
Napier has declined to comment on the tribunal’s outcome.
In the end the lecturer was awarded £47,000 (Public Funds?) and he had some good comments about how the university carries out it’s business:
But Mr Perring reportedly said afterwards: “I was sacked because they wanted rid of me. They used the time I spent working on the business as an excuse to haul me before the university court.
“But the hearings were a joke. It was more a kangaroo court than a university one.”
In retrospect, it seems that Napier tying up in the conflict of interest fiasco down Craigmillar way with disgraced ex-councillor Paul Nolan seems right up their sleeve we reckon.
We are still awaiting a reply on our last questions to them in our post Did Napier University lie to EdinburghSucks.com
