Dick Dastardly in a tizzy

Davies cartoon2.JPG News into EdSucks towers is that Planning Convenor Trevor ‘little Dick Dastardly’ Davies is in a bit of a tizzy after slamming the site on Talk107 and then finding out that indeed we were on the ball and have now shown the evidence to anyone with a computer highlighting that his leadership of Edinburgh’s planning is sadly lacking.

This will of course affect the councillor in the upcoming race for council leader which could descend into the same sort of fight that is happening for number 10 Downing Street with open warfare within the ranks of the labour councillors in Edinburgh.

So far Davies has been courting all sides in the leadership race but there could well be quite a bit of fallout when Edinburgh’s electoral boundaries are redrawn and it is expected that the boundaries commission will announce these in the autumn.

With such a high profile leak from planning showing that at best the officials are hiding information from the committee and providing fake information, this shows that although Davies has tried to assure his colleagues that he has planning for the next 30-40 years for the city under control, in fact our published information together with the questions we have posed shows that he probably doesn’t in fact have planning under control but in fact the questions raised in this one planning application may come up in many more when people who have seen this information now try to get their failed applications re-opened after doing some digging. Councillors in Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian are positively glowing at our disclosures.

The other major problem here is that the information we have published reinforces the widely held theory that planning in the city is carried out by the use of brown envelopes.

For those who have asked, we still have not gotten the apology from Davies but we have from another couple of members of the planning committee.
