More with the myEdinburgh fiasco. It just keeps getting worse.
When the council arms-length company Cityconnect went tits-up with many accusations of massive fraud including accusations by the company’s auditors saying that about £400,000 was making up a huge hole in there accounts and a further £188,000 of equipment couldn’t be accounted for, the people who were in charge of the day to day running of the company set up their own company called Cityconnect (www.cityconnect.org.uk , www.cityconnect.ltd.uk and www.cityconnect.cc ).
These people, headed by Pete McDougall, with the help of two members of community education, David Hillson and Alistar Frater then set about selling their jokingly called IT services to community groups around Edinburgh. The council, after being alerted by EdinburghSucks, then put out some warnings on one of their sites.
However, the new cityconnect actually dupes the unsuspecting community organisations by telling them that they are actually the secret partner on myEdinburgh and that they continue to manage the Council’s site. To prove this to the community organisations, they take their ‘marks‘ to the myEdinburgh website; they go down to the bottom and click on the Privacy Statement and there is their proof:
