EH8.org.uk have a petition which states the following:

OLD TOWN REDEVELOPMENT

We the undersigned, oppose the demolition of tenement flats and listed buildings on the Royal Mile, to make way for a 200 bedroom glass fronted luxury hotel, conference facilities, office blocks, luxury apartments and serviced apartments and upmarket retail and a new road “Parliament Way”
