Rasputin, Dick Dastardly or Bunty Backhander?

Edinburgh’s Labour party know they are really in dire straits with their membership in the toilet, and so few members to attend branch meetings that they are now being held in people’s houses it is not surprising to see that the potential leaders of this motley crew do not exactly inspire confidence.

Both Ewan ‘Rasputin’ Aitken and Trevor ‘Dick Dastardly’ Davies have been proven in these columns to have no control over the departments they currently run, so how the hell do they think they can manage to be leader of the Council - do they have no shame?

Elizabeth ‘Bunty Backhander’ Maginnis is reported to represent the left of the labour pack, strange how this obviously committed socialist manages to have more conflicts of interest in her positions in Pilton than Paul Nolan had in Craigmillar.  Maginnis is known as Bunty Backhander by her colleagues in the City Chambers.  Stories going around about Bunty include:

Last year, Councillor McGinnis and her Waterfront CEO Stephen Izatt hosted a very lavish and expensive St Andrews function for a few select friends. This was carried out at huge cost to the public purse. The event involved hosting a huge light show and display. However Instead of hiring the lights which were only required for the one evening, Councillor McGinnis and Waterfront CEO Stephen Izatt decided to purchase the lights brand new from a company called Black Light at huge cost. Their plan was to retain the lights and sell them privately at a later date.

However since they have come under scrutiny, Councillor McGinnis and Stephen Izatt have been unwilling to uplift the Lights which remain in storage at Black Light, incurring storage charges.

Thousands of pounds of public cash has been needlessly and wastefully and corruptly squandered.

and

Councillor McGinnis’s business dealings and blatant misuse of public office for personal prosperity has stained the name of Granton, the Labour party and Edinburgh. When the She has been accused so often of conflict of interest and a lack of disclosure that she will have great difficulty holding office next time around.

and

Stephen Izatt and Councillor ‘Lady’ Elizabeth McGinnis of Waterfront Mansions have been busy trying to shred evidence whilst trying to cover tracks as the development comes under close scrutiny from several investigative sources From television and press. Scotland does not need a replay of Holyrood.

Waterfront Staff have been dismissed and are being made scapegoats for misdemeanours and misconduct which are being perpetrated by others.

So if this is the best three stooges the city’s labour party can put up for leader.  There’s not much hope for them at all in the upcoming elections.  It almost has us in EdSucks towers saying…… Come back Teflon, all is forgiven!…. but not quite.
