Recently in Edinburgh, the Chancellor Gordon Brown had his latest baby James Fraser. Congratulations
Just to show how much faith he puts in the NHS, once again Gordon Brown had his baby at the Simpson’s Centre for Reproductive Health which is housed in Edinburgh’s new Royal Infirmary at Little France.
All nice and good and a good pat on the pack to the NHS and for Dr Rhona Hughes, consultant obstetrician of the new Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh, who said mother and child were doing “very well” following the delivery.
Our friend over at NHS Blog Doctor did point out a few home truths on the delivery which shows the special treatment given out to government ministers by the NHS:
This is how and where the great and the good have their babies. How often do consultant obstetricians go to a labour ward to do a normal delivery for an NHS patient? Dr Crippen has never seen this happen in the whole of his medical career. Not once.
Nor does he have a single NHS patient who has had a noramal delivery conducted by a consultant. Not one. Note that Dr Rhona Hughes says, “it was a very straight forward delivery with no complications.â€
So why was the baby not delivered by a midwife “Because this is New Labour.
One set of rules for them. One set of rules for us.” Exactly!
More Info: Not for the common folk, though
