Shami ‘Khan’t keep my mouth shut’ causes consternation with Castle Leisure Group

shamiKhan copy.jpgNews into EdSucks towers is that there is emails flying back and forth from Castle Leisure Group’s (CLG) Managing Director Paul Smith and their Group Security Manager John Gallagher, regarding our he story of Shami “Khan’t think a subject that’s not racism” being given a private viewing of the video evidence in the case against his son and his recent alleged rampage both inside and outside a city centre nightclub owned by CLG.

Our police sources tell us that the list of questions we posed earleir regarding that needed to be urgently answered in this case are causing consteration both with CLG, L&B and also the city’s Police Board.

This raises a number of highly pertinent questions, including:

  1. In what capacity was Khan given this somewhat unusual privilege? Complainer? Accused’s Legal Representative? Member of the Police Board? Daddy of one of the Accused? Interfering Cooncillor? Or just nosey member of the public?
  2. Isn’t this evidence that should be safeguarded and presented to a Court - Don’t the police have a duty to protect evidence, not facilitate its viewing to someone who’s already prejudged the issue, pronounced on it in the media and has an axe to grind?
  3. Has the Procurator Fiscal had prior sight of the video evidence and given permission for it to be shown to a member of the public?
  4. If not the PF, who in Lothian and Borders Police authorised it?
  5. Assuming the whole mess isn’t quietly binned as a matter of political expediency, (far be it to suggest such a motive in the first place) what will a Sheriff say in open Court about such a procedure affecting the integrity of evidence ?
  6. What on earth will the Commissioner for Standards in Public Office make of this ? (somebody’s just BOUND to ask him !)
  7. Isn’t this a clear breach of Ethics by a Member of the Police Board to attempt to interfere in operational policing - or even Attempt to Pervert the Course of Justice?
  8. What steps were taken to safeguard the interests and privacy of any other persons - including co-accused and innocent members of the public - identifiable on the video, protected by the Data Protection Act?

We are told that it is now time that the answers to these questions must be forthcoming very soon to allow the legal system to deal with the case.

Regular readers will of course remember that Khan, the council’s only Asian councillor who has himself been accused of racism at an East Edinburgh Local Development Committee meeting where the meeting broke into pandemonium after what were perceived in the audience as racist comments against an asian couple attending and of course the full backing he gave to disgraced ex-councillor Paul Nolan’s cabal in the recent Craigmillar Community Council election where the Nolan cabal were accused of “electoral cleansing” by Teflon Don himself.

So is it time that Shami ‘Khan’t keep my seat on the Police Board’ resigned?
