It appears people wishing to comment on the skatepark have had their right taken away from them at the last minute by the council.
Visitors at the city council’s planning portal today are being told “It is not possible to comment on this Application. Only Applications currently under consideration are available for comment.” even although the closing date for comments is supposed to be at midnight tonight.
EdSucks have had 28 emails this afternoon alone from residents complaining that they are having their rights shredded by the council in this matter - emails have also been sent to the Trevor “(little) Dick Dastardly” complaining about the scenario but have gone unasnwered. The article in tonight’s Evening News article “Record numbers join skate debate” also has comments from people complaining about the difficulty of lodging comments. Indeed to view the associated documents on the council’s website is also impossible throwing up a 404-Page not found error.
One of the distressed residents wrote to the case officer about how to comment on the application and was told that “just forward them directly to me at this e-mail address and I will make sure they are taken into account.” However, as EdinburghSucks has already proven by publishing the emails, the planning officials only tell the committee what they think they should know - far from the whole story.
Regular readers will remember Dick Dastardly was also caught out lying on Talk107 (CouncilFM) saying that what was on EdinburghSucks wasn’t true, when we published the emails proving him wrong he wasn’t so cocky and fell into silence.
Again, it shows this Councillor who is currently running for leader, is not up to his current job never mind a promotion.

EdinburghSucks.com calls for the comments on the application to be opened up for at least another day to give the people the chance that they democratically have, whether that be supporting or against the skatepark.
