More info has now come in on the post last week telling readers about the slashing of 200 nursery places in Edinburgh by the Council.
Some of the questions have been answered and we now know who the MSP is that has been digging around. He has asked the following questions in Parliament today:
S2W-32238 Colin Fox: To ask the Scottish Executive what the public sector provision is of full-time and part-time nursery places for three and four-year-olds in south Edinburgh.
S2W-32239 Colin Fox: To ask the Scottish Executive whether there are any plans to reduce the number of full-time nursery places available for three and four-year-olds in south and south-east Edinburgh.
The qustions will be answered by the Scottish Executive this Thursday during general question time.
Further information we have is that the Council intends to cut £6,000,000.00 from the nursery provision budget leaving hundreds and hundreds of working parents without childcare and in some cases could force parents to give up work and start a new life on the dole costing the taxpayer much, much more money. It may also mean people will have to leave their studies.
If the Council are going to do this, why don’t they come out and say it to the electorate? Liars, all of them - keeping secrets because the truth would completely ensure that they are all sent back to get a real job.
