Bunty Backhander and the Wardie Crescent development

maginnisIt seems that residents of Wardie Crescent are up in arms because one of their neighbours is building six houses in their back garden and didn’t go to the bother of applying for planning permission for the buildings.  Why, you ask!

Well it seems that the occupier of the house in whose back garden the houses are being built, a certain Mr. Singh, has had a word with his local councillor, none other than Bunty Backhander and was told by her that there is a legal loophole and he doesn’t need to apply for planning permission.  All he need do is apply for retrospective planning permission and all will be nice and dandy for the good Mr. Singh.

Unfortunately, local minister the Rev. Norman Smith of the Granton Parish Church is not too happy with all these houses being built right next door to the manse and went along to the Community Council to find out what the hell (sorry Rev.) was going on.  Imagine his surprise when aformentioned local councillor, Elizabeth (Bunty Backhaner) Maginnis told the community council that Mr. Singh indeed “had a legal right” to build the houses.

Further showing what most people believe, there is a bung system in the planning system.  We would like Mr. Singh to contact us and let us know if Councillor Maginnis put a price on her agreement to nullify the planning system on this occasion.  Of course with council policy that all new developments will have 25% affordable housing - will this be applied to the Wardie Crescent development.

Even more interesting is the fact that we have been informed that there is an audio recording of Bunty’s solid defence of the planning permission-less development, at the Communty Council on Tuesday 17th April - we can’t wait to see if the minutes tie up with the audio recording!

Vote John Wallace (Independent 4 EdSucks)  for council if you are in the Craigentinny/Mountcastle ward.
