Labour!
Was there a little bit of truth in Trevor Davies’ statements to the Evening News that the alphabet played a large part in the Council voting?
Nice though it might be to think that the electorate deliberately got rid of notorious councillors, I think the reason may be more mundane: the alphabet, as reported by the Evening News. E.g. B for Blacklock is before D for Davies.
On that subject, it will be interesting to see how Angela Blacklock fares on the council. At a local hustings event she was very quiet, often referring to Trevor Davies’ previous answer or giving rather short answers. A correspondent writing in the Broughton Spurtle suggested that she might be viewing this as a “dummy run” for next time. (I haven’t got a copy of the Spurtle to hand, but it is posted outside the Stafford Centre in Brougton Street.)
This would of course not account for the Forth ward where Fitzpatrick comes well before Maginnis (or maybe people thought “Backhander”) but there is the Portobello ward with Child/Marshall.
Hmmmmmm
