It seems the change of administration hasn’t brought about any change in the hiring procedures for the council’s arms length companies - it’s still who you know rather than what - or in some cases who you pop between the sheets with.
News into us last night and today seems to confirm that although Roy ‘the defecit” Jobson took his rather handsome package from the council on retiring as Director of Children and Families, he wasn’t so happy to take the actual retiral part.
Incredibly, it seems that Mr. Jobson has taken a post with council arms-length company EDI-Parc in a, wait for it…….. - drum roll …………. “Change Management” role. We can just imagine the interview procedure:
Interviewer: “We are looking for someone with a lot of experience of spending public money do you think you can fit into that role.”
Defecit Jobson: “Whey Aye man. I’m your man. I spent years with the biggest budget in the council and not only did I manage to spend it all but managed to run up a deficit of millions - I’m definitely your man.”
Interviewer: “Really - you are our man all right. How much of a dogs dinner do you think you can make of our budgets?”
Defecit Jobson: “Just give me a look at those books of yours and I’ll get you in an overdraft position by the end of the day.”
Interviewer: “Magic. You’re Hired starting immediately. Can you please read the Encyclopedia of Brown Envelope Stuff we have compiled that is sitting on those shelves over there for background research.
You really can’t make this stuff up.
