I have to confess that I have set myself a mission this rugby season and I’m sure EdSucks rugger fans will be interested as well.

Y’see, after the embarassing sight of Eric “Maroon Balloon” Milligan being piped all over Montmatre in Paris in March this year at the France -v- Scotland game (18 full time cops skirling the now ex-Convenor of the Police Board for 4 days, air travel for all, all the pomp and puke he and his missus (Bunty Backhander must have been busy!) could manage and a fair braw swallie at the gemme as well - just how many crimes in Edinburgh would 18 full time cops have prevented?) I have been worried about Eric missing out.
 
Labour got emptied at the May elections and sadly there is no longer a place at the official trough for his prodigious snout and he’s now missing out on a whole load of flesh pressing and self promotion.  That said, he’s hung on to his office like a leech and now I think I know why!!  Of course!!, Scotland are playing New Zealand at Murrayfield in the rugby World Cup on 23rd September and oor daft Eric is the Honorary Consul for New Zealand - it was one of the reasons (HE said) that he had to hang on to his office at the City Chambers.  There’s bound to be a reception, a freebie, a beano, a bevvie, a swallie and all at someone else’s expense whilst wearing the Hearts fitba’ tartan!! Why didn’t I see it coming?!?!  And free tickets to the game as well!!

Not only that, but guess who’s hosting the Rugby World Cup in 2011?   That’s right, New Zealand!!  A trip to the land of the long white cloud for him, the missus (or Betty!) he might even con the Chief Constable to put the Pipe Band over with him and just in time for him to retire with a last hoorah in spectacular style!!  The man’s a genius!!  More ways of slithering around a freebie than an oleagenous rattlesnake smeared in Vaseline!!  Too outrageous to be true?  Not a chance, the man’s a genius, but I’ll be watching him now that he’s been rumbled!

It’s amazing what comes to you whilst ruminating in the bath!!
