Labour

Wee Wendy the apologist

Wee Wendy’s speech at yesterday’s conference was really highlighted by the fact that she apologised to conference for not delivering Scotland to them in May.  It was almost as though she thought that it was Labour’s birthright to hold every seat in Scotland.

“As the new leader and on behalf of the whole Scottish party, I offer an apology for our defeat in last May’s Scottish elections,” she said. “For despite our many achievements in government in Scotland, too many felt we had lost touch.”

Bit of a cheek we think.  Can’t figure out what achievements you made in 8 years of government but the one piece of truth in the statement was that “many felt we had lost touch”.  Unfortunately, most also feel that it will be quite a while until you start touching again.

As for saying that the tories and the SNP are in cahoots with each other, she conveniently forgot that her party, the FibDems and the tories are currently ganging up on the SNP in the current parliament.

Her Alistair Campbell style spin-doctor Brian Lironi (reader of EdSucks) returns from sick to leave with a good package and meek statement:

“I have agreed a package with representatives of the Labour Group which allows me to move on and pursue an alternative career. I joined the Labour Group in August and this represented a career change for me, having spent many years in journalism.

“Through no-one’s fault, that career change has not been successful and I have decided to move. I wish the Labour Party in Scotland well for the future and know they will be an effective opposition at Holyrood.”

and now probably will not head over the Industrial Tribunal with a constructive dismissal case -  suppose there was also a “confidentiality clause” in there somewhere.  That is a shame because the dirt would have been nice to read and report.  Wonder if that statement was written by Lord Fowkes-Sake…..
