Oh how we laughed. Labour’s parliamentary leader almost proved she had a huge great pair of chukkies yesterday when the request “gies mair money” was slammed into the independent review of of MSP’s allowances yesterday. The reason we say “almost proved” is that she never quite uttered the words herself, she left that to her lackey who was obviously looking to get a pay rise herself.

Sarah Metcalfe, the director of research for Labour at Holyrood, told the review Ms Alexander receives an allowance of £22,466 which is exactly what the previous leader of the opposition received and we just don’t think that’s fair. Wendy has to buy nappies, Sudocrem and not forgetting the baby wipes and that’s just to clean up after the MSPs she leads.

All the Scottish Nose Pickers (SNP) obviously jumped on this act of hypocracy and cited that Labour had actually stopped this in the past. They were quite right as well.

We at EdSucks reckon that the funding should be changed. However, don’t bring in that change until after the next Scottish Election. All parties ran in May knowing how much money they would get and accepted that by running. Let Labour live with the same cloth that they had woven for their opposition for the term of the parliament and make it more realistic for the next election. But don’t let the buggers get too greedy.

In an example of just how hypocrical it is, even The Scotsman mentioned it - must have been dress down day and the red roses were left at home.
