Elizabeth Maginnis

The letter North Edinburgh News refused to publish

The following letter was received by Edinburgh Sucks together with a whole screed of background material from which we shall publish edited highlights in the future. Once again, the star of the material is non other than our councillor who came fourth in the Forth ward, Elizabeth “Bunty Backhander” Maginnis:

PEP’s Deafening Silence

To quote more than one or two leading members of the community on PEP’s failure to make any sort of reply to my letter in August’s NEN challenging their claims in the previous month’s NEN.

Unfortunately for Mrs Maginnis, Mrs Garden and certain members of PEP’s Management Committee burying their heads in the sand and clinging on to their posts when caught out misleading your community, referring agencies and what appears to be the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator (OSCR) is not going to work in your favour.

As the abovementioned were not willing to take my advice and do the honourable thing and step down, a section of the PEP staff have again contacted OSCR and the Health & Social Care Department with irrefutable documentary evidence that Elizabeth Maginnis lied to nearly 40 statutory and voluntary agencies regarding staff’s “appropriate” qualifications to the detriment of the most vulnerable in our community and other gross professional misconduct being carried out by PEP’s management.

I and many others are disgusted with PEP’s management, one in particular who took satisfaction in terminating and forcing staff/volunteers to resign though when it comes down to their own positions, in the face of irrefutable proof, are quite prepared to cling on to their own positions, having exposed PEP’s employees dispute to the media and drag their own projects reputation through the dirt at the risk to the project and its services to the community.

A section of PEP’s staff were also disgusted by Malcolm Chisholm’s speech at PEP’s last AGM congratulating PEP with the “trailblazing” work in challenging attitudes to mental health etc knowing he had received a copy of the “Document” of their concerns stating hsi only role now is to be a “champion of the people”.

The authorities have been given a second chance to take action to ensure our services to the vulnerable are being run correctly and to their optimum levels. If they fail us again then it’s up to our own community to act, being fully informed, to demand why no action is being taken.

If our own community does not act then we will always be burdened by third rate or less councillors and politicians, but more tragically, third-rate services for the most vulnerable in our community will always burden us.

Its time for people to join us and stand up for what is right in this community.

Time indeed!
